Hygiene Therapy
Dental Hygienist in Hull
Patients at Manor Dental Health travel from across Hull, Willerby, Cottingham and Beverley (– and even Thailand, New York and New Zealand!) to enjoy the latest techniques, equipment and skills of our team. All members of our dedicated team relish the opportunity to expand their clinical knowledge to deliver a full range of services, from complete care dentistry and orthodontics, to dental implants and minimally invasive dentistry.
Our nurse counsellors undertake additional training in radiography, fluoride application and oral health education, and assist children and adults in understanding how to care for teeth between visits.
The role of our dental hygienist, Anna Watson, is wide reaching and includes the prevention and management of dental decay, as well as tooth whitening, oral cancer screening and impressions.
Dental therapists are qualified to perform more complex hygiene therapy, apply fissure sealants and fluoride treatments, extract milk teeth and do fillings.
Much of a dental hygienist’s training is alongside and to the same standard as a dentist’s. Dental hygiene therapists strictly adhere to the GDC’s standards of dental care, as do all qualified members of our clinical team. Anna has been trained to provide the same standard of care as Nick, and as you’d expect, Nick and Anna have spent a considerable amount of time working together to ensure they complement each other fully.
- Hygiene therapy that’s second to none
- Prevention is at the core of what we do
- Hygiene therapists train alongside dentists
- Fully qualified for routine dental care
- Can carry out whitening, certain extractions and fillings
At the forefront of dentistry
Like medical teams, dental teams have evolved over the last decade. Dentistry is delivered by a team with the dentist at its core, prescribing. Manor Dental Health’s principal dentist, Nick Allday, is continually improving his skill set to allow him to undertake the complex treatments modern life expects, such as orthodontics, implants and smile transformations.
Routine patient care becomes the remit of the professional dental team, not just the dentist, and hygiene therapists are amply qualified to carry out a range of dental procedures, such as those listed above and clinical examinations, gum therapy, treatment planning, re-cementing crowns and providing smoking cessation advice.
